Presidents Welcome

Welcome to the Premier League Grand Finals for 2024. By all measures this season has been one of continued success and while there’s always room for improvement, I think all members of the Sydney hockey community should be justifiably proud of the competitions.

Last week’s Sydney League Grand Finals were a tremendous celebration and featured close and exciting games across all levels

We continued our live-streaming of two games a week through Facebook and our YouTube channel. This allowed us to provide free of charge quality Sydney Hockey, locally, nationally and internationally. Our live-streams continue to attract thousands of views each week and is testimony to the quality of our Premier League competition.

We are very grateful to the sponsors of our broadcasts, Hawkesbury Brewing, Just Hockey and Bankstown Sports Club. The generous donations for our Player of the Match Award each week has garnered significant interest.

We’d like to add to this list in the coming seasons as this helps significantly defray our costs and ask any members of the hockey community who may be interested in sponsorship packages to reach out. The broadcasts, coupled with our increasing presence on social media platforms meant we were able to reach more people than we ever thought possible. I thank all our match commentators throughout the year, especially, David Moore, our social media coordinator who makes an outstanding contribution in helping grow and promote the game.

I would also like to thank the players, coaches, managers, umpires, club officials and the myriad of helpers who made the season run so smoothly. Our Executive Officer, Peter Hayes, the Officiating Committee, headed by Bruce Cook and  Robbie Sutton and other Board members all of whom worked tirelessly to keep things running effectively. I thank them on your behalf.

Congratulations to all of the participants in today’s Premier League games, it is a monumental effort to make it to a Grand Final and I wish all teams the best of luck. May you all enjoy a competitive day played in the right spirit.
