Reminder re 11th Feb notice
Sydney Hockey Clubs
At last nights Board Meeting, the Board discussed and resolved to adapt the new FIH regulation about wearing facemasks on Penalty corners for top level FIH events (27th January).
The SH board understands a decision is imminent across all levels of hockey and wish to be on the front foot in implementing this regulation for the safety of players, across our whole competition. (PL & SL grades)
We wish to give clubs this notice now so to be ready for the start of the competition rounds on 29th March.
The Officiating/Umpires AGM is scheduled for next Monday where they will discuss the implementation of this regulation on field in our fixtures.
Our Competition Rules will be adjusted to reflect the change in the 2025 version.
Below is a passage from the FIH announcement and link to the announcement. Also attached are some FIH existing guidelines of approved/recommendations for facemasks
27th January 2025
“FIH has decided today to make it mandatory for all players when defending penalty corners to wear a face mask. This measure has been taken in order to further protect players when defending during this very special moment of the game of hockey………..”
